The people of Winona have awarded the Winona Public Library the Hidden Gem Tourism Award. The award is a reminder of the value all public libraries provide to their communities, and the degree to which they are appreciated by community members.
Every student is “college material.” It is with that mindset that the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) is launching Direct Admissions Minnesota. This new pilot program will notify graduating high school seniors of participating colleges and universities that are eager to admit them.
Many Minnesota colleges will charge no fee for applications this year. The Minnesota Office of Higher Education has collected all the pertinent information in a flier available to libraries and other community organizations.

This year it will be a hybrid in-person and virtual event, with the in-person portion held in Saint Paul at the Union Depot. Submit by Thursday, August 18th!
Staff from MnPALS, the University of St. Thomas, and Minitex are collaborating to address the need for Open Educational Resources (OER) and Affordable Content in Minnesota. To set a foundation for their work, they are conducting a survey of efforts already underway in Minnesota. They request that you complete their survey by Friday, August 26.
