The Minnesota Digital Library is excited to welcome a new contributor to our collection: the Rushford Area Historical Society of Rushford, Minnesota, in Fillmore County. They have shared a collection of 25 oral history interviews with MDL. These interviews document the history of the area and include the experiences of veterans, farmers, lawyers, electricians, and artists.
The Rushford Area Historical Society (RAHS) was formed in December 1984 with a primary goal of purchasing and restoring the original Southern Minnesota Depot in Rushford. The mission and goals expanded with the acquisition of the 1878 Grinde one-room schoolhouse, part of the original 1867 Rushford Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the 1913 limestone jail, and the 1914 two-story log cabin. RAHS continues to enhance the visitorā€™s experience through museum displays, publishing stories, and photographs that capture the Rushford areaā€™s history.
