The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) will be holding the second of three 2026 regional meetings for contributors and similar organizations on Thursday, May 28. Hosted by the Hibbing Historical Society in the Hibbing Memorial Building, the day will start with a welcome at 10:00 a.m., followed by a morning of updates on MDL projects. Stephanie Hess and Greta Bahnemann will discuss recent initiatives - such as MDL's digital storytelling program, Wikimedia Commons project, AI-assisted transcription efforts, and traveling exhibits.
After lunch, attendees will participate in a workshop on building a digital preservation toolbox for their organizations. During the workshop, Carol Kussmann and Sara Ring will share best practices, sustainability approaches, and a variety of practical tools to help safeguard digital collections. The day will wrap up at 3:00 p.m.
