Quick Summary
A new traveling exhibit developed by the Minnesota Digital Library on childhood is now available for Minnesota organizations to borrow.
The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) has developed another banner exhibit, this time based on the history of childhood in Minnesota. Featuring images from MDL collections, the exhibit “Childhood in Minnesota” explores the idea of childhood as a universal experience that has been shaped by unique places, cultures, and time periods. The exhibit’s themes focus on children and families, children at work and school, and children at play. Organizations throughout the state may request to borrow and display the banners at their sites for free.
Since the banners can only include a small number of photographs, MDL has also developed an online version of the exhibit for those who wish to view more historical photographs and documents. Visit Childhood in Minnesota: Growing Up in the North Star State on our website today!
About the Traveling Exhibit Program
MDL’s traveling banner exhibits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each traveling exhibit consists of four pop-up banners, and each banner is approximately 33x80 inches. Organizations in Minnesota can borrow the exhibit for a period of two months. Free shipping of the exhibits to hosts throughout the state is available upon request via the Minitex courier system, or you can pick them up at our office in Wilson Library on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.
For more information or to request an exhibit loan, visit the traveling exhibit project page on MDL’s website.
