Quick Summary
Explore some of the new additions to the Fillmore County Historical Society collection in the Minnesota Digital Library.
The Minnesota Digital Library is pleased to share new content added to the Fillmore County Historical Society's online collection. The Society has shared four historic maps - a 1951 railroad map of the United States, a 1878 plat map of Fillmore County, an 1855 map of Minnesota Territory, and an 1856 map of Minnesota Territory. These four maps add to both MDL's cartographic collection as well as our information about Minnesota's territorial period, which dated from 1849 to 1858.
Fillmore County Historical Society also shared two letters written by Iva Liddiard to her parents in Preston, Minnesota. The two letters tell the story of her stay in Berlin, Germany two years after World War II ended. She mentions friendships with the German people and also tells of the rise of Hitler from a German layman's perspective. Finally, she describes how attractive America was to the young Germans living in Berlin at that time.
