Quick Summary
The Minnesota Digital Library is excited to reveal the winning stories from our first-ever Creative Writing Contest in an online exhibit showcase.
Last fall, the Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) hosted a creative writing contest in honor of our 20th Anniversary. Using any item in the MDL collections as a prompt, participants were invited to write a fictional short story, poem, or other creative piece. Other than a word count of 750, the only limit was their imaginations. The ultimate goal for this writing contest was to encourage new ways of engaging with MDL's digital collections.
After we received dozens of entries, a panel of judges reviewed each submission and selected the top ten writing pieces for both youth and adults. We were pleased to see such a high level of interest, a wide variety of subjects, and inspiring examples of creativity among all the writing submissions. MDL staff would like to thank all of our participants for sharing their stories with us!
We are pleased to present the winning stories for all to enjoy. Browse all 20 stories in the the Creative Writing Showcase today!
