Quick Summary
The Minnesota Digital Library has digitized early town records from a new contributing organization, Clinton Falls Township.
Clinton Falls Township is located in Steele County between Owatonna and Medford. It was settled in the mid-1850s and began recording its official business starting in the 1860s.
The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) recently completed a digitization project for the Clinton Falls Township, scanning six handwritten record books and three treasurer’s receipts created between 1862 and 1915. These reports include minutes from township meetings and auditor’s meetings, treasurer’s ledgers, and a store ledger book from the Knapp and Finch Dry Goods Store. A road planning book also includes the location and development of roads built in the area between 1881 and 1904.
Together, these early township records provide unique, specific details about this southern Minnesota community. These books are also transcribed so they are more accessible to understand without needing to read cursive.
MDL is pleased to add this new contributor’s materials to our digital collections, particularly because they are some of the only materials we have from Steele County. Browse the Clinton Falls Township collection today.
