Quick Summary
The Fertile Public Library joins the Minnesota Digital Library with a Polk County Fair historical collection.
The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) has digitized a set of objects, memorabilia, pictures, and printed material about the Polk County Fair, held in Fertile, Minnesota, since 1900. This collection from the Fertile Public Library highlights the early development, changes, and growth of the fair from the early 1900s through 1954 – the 50th anniversary of the Polk County Fair Association.
The unique collection helps fill in some content gaps in MDL, including agricultural fair history as well as information about northwestern Minnesota. Along with postcards, photographs, and letters, the collection also includes admission tickets to the fair, a third place premium ribbon, and other souvenirs. Two rubber stamps used by the fair association and audio-visual recordings of Fertile and the fair are some of the more unique objects in the set.
The Fertile Public Library is also a new contributing organization to MDL. Learn more about the organization and access their collection today!
