Quick Summary
Are you an up-and-coming Indie Author looking to take the next step? Here is your chance! Submissions are now open for this year's MN Author Project Contest and MN Author Project Communities Create Contest.
MN Author Project Contest
The MN Author Project Contest seeks to find the best indie-published ebooks from across the state! Through this contest, libraries are helping indie authors get the recognition they deserve for writing great books. For authors, this contest is a powerful way to elevate your careers and writing goals, powered by the library community. Along with the accolade of the award and its perks, being recognized by librarians creates credibility and visibility for indie authors, setting them apart in a growing marketplace of digital content and indie-published books. One adult winner and one young adult winner is chosen.
Submissions are open from April 1 to May 31, and winners will be chosen by a panel of librarian judges and announced at the upcoming MN Library Association (MLA) conference in the fall.
Winners receive a $2,000 cash prize, honors at the MLA conference, and more!

MN Author Project Communities Create Contest
Brought to you by the Minnesota Library Foundation and libraries throughout the state, this contest seeks to celebrate Minnesota organizations and community groups that are producing written creative works, especially with the support of their local library. Whether your group has a short story collection coming out of a classroom, a poetry anthology from a writers group, a cookbook crafted by a local foodie society, or anything in between, this contest is for you.
Winners receive a $2,000 cash prize, an honorary plaque, printing of the winning book, and more!
Have an idea for a book, but no way to create it? Thanks to MELSA, everyone across the state has free access to Pressbooks, an easy-to-use tool that lets you create a publisher-ready book file from a PDF, a Microsoft Word document, or from scratch! Learn more about Pressbooks here.
