The Rosa Parks Collection held by the Library of Congress (LOC) has been digitized and is now available online.  Containing 7,500 manuscripts and 2,500 photographs, the collection provides a full picture of her life which includes details about her personality, life growing up in the segregated South, and her civil rights work.  You’ll find personal correspondence and reflection, family photographs, letters from presidents, flyers, medals, and much more.

With teachers in mind, the Library of Congress also created Rosa Parks: A Primary Source Gallery and a timeline for additional context, From Slavery to Civil Rights: A Timeline of African American History.  Another helpful resource from the LOC is the web guide, A Guide to Materials for Rosa Parks.

To learn more watch the video, Rosa Parks Collection: Telling Her Story at the Library of Congress, with collection highlights and a behind the scenes look at how the LOC experts have made this collection available.
