Partner Event | To Sticker or Not to Sticker: A Genre-fying Conundrum

  • Wednesday, August 19
  • 9:00 am – 10:00 am CDT
  • FREE via Professional Development Alliance

Think classification ends with Dewey? Think again! Assigning genres such as mystery, romance, science fiction, and more can lead to confusion from both staff and patrons. Only you can decide what works best for your library–but how? In this webinar, we will explore the many ways to label fiction and even some nonfiction to facilitate greater accessibility for your patrons.

You’ll learn:

  • What genres are and what they are not
  • What sub-genres are and their parts in overarching genres
  • How genre-fying interacts with reader’s advisory
  • How readers find genres
  • Participants are encouraged to bring their questions and help each other develop answers.
