Primary Function

The library assistant will primarily be responsible for providing assistance to library patrons in-person and over the phone, performing stacks maintenance, and creating library programs and displays. This position will also coordinate workflow of student workers in absence of supervisor. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to library patrons in-person and over the phone
  • Shelve, shelf-read, and perform stacks maintenance
  • Plan, design, and create library programs and displays
  • Coordinate workflow of student workers in absence of supervisor
  • Assist with training of new student employees
  • Provide back-up staffing for desks, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Problem-solving and communication skills
  • Independent decision-making abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Alma and other library processes and resources
  • Extensive knowledge of the University Libraries systems, policies, procedures and referral information for library users
