Gaming and Information Literacy: Lessons from a Library Credit Course

Description

The presenter from the University of Northern Iowa will share how gamification was introduced into their information literacy credit course to foster active learning. The presenter will demonstrate inexpensive and easy-to-use web gamification apps (i.e., Kahoot, Quizlet), and discuss how to incorporate these into classroom environments (i.e., one shot sessions, credit course, embedded classroom) to increase student engagement.

Angie Cox is an Instruction and Liaison Librarian at the University of Northern Iowa. She teaches a credit-bearing information literacy course as well as "one shot" library sessions across a variety of disciplines.
