Best Practices for Lenders
Best Practices for Borrowers
- Respond promptly to lenders' recalls.
Results of the 2009 Best Practices Survey
Only two comments are found in the 2009 survey regarding recalls, both recommending that lending libraries refrain from recalling loaned items before their original due dates. Comments from the 2009 Survey:
- Recalls don't work well with public library patrons. Consider borrowing title from another library if available instead of just recalling an item.
- If possible stop recalls. Patrons don't bring back items that they have checked out because the borrowing library wants it back sooner.
